The one thing I have always hated about Microsoft is its predatory business practices that very deliberately try to undermine its competitors.  The whole “embrace and extend” strategy of purposefully breaking standards bothers me on many levels.  I am much more respectful of companies that concentrate on offering superior products and that is why I have always liked Apple.  So, you can imagine my shock at seeing the following pop-up when I was evaluating Apple’s new Mobile Me service.

This is what I got when I tried to access Mobile Me from Firefox 3 on an Ubuntu Linux box (and if you click continue you are thrown right back to this page … an infinite loop!):

So what the hell is Apple up to?  If something works in firefox 3 on a PC and on a Mac then chances are pretty darn good that it will work in firefox 3 on a Linux box, especially if it is not relying on Flash or some other such silliness.  Therefore, I don’t understand what the problem here is?  Is this just very poor coding?  Ignorance of the Linux platform?  Or a very deliberate attempt by Apple to drive people away from Linux?
